Sarees are the most loved Indian attire by women across the globe. Not only in India, but sarees are becoming a huge trend among the women outside India. There are different types of sarees existing in every woman’s wardrobe, like chiffon, georgette, silk, cotton, although, not everybody knows how to maintain them like the freshly bought ones. Tips to Maintain Cotton sarees

  • Wash your cotton sarees separately, as they are prone to bleed color as compared to other fabrics.
  • Always dry sarees in cotton in shade as too much exposure to sun may result in color fading of cotton sarees.
  • Never use harsh detergents to wash your cotton sarees. It is advised to use mild ones only. 

Tips to maintain Net sarees 

  • Net fabric is very delicate, therefore, never wash your net sarees at home.
  • Always prefer dry cleaning your net sarees.
  • Iron the net saree by keeping a layer of cotton cloth on it so as to prevent the fabric from damaging. However, steam ironing is considered a best option.
  • Get your net sarees dry cleaning after every use before storing them. 

Tips to maintain Georgette & Chiffon sarees

  • Georgette and Chiffon sarees are very delicate, hence, always go for the delicate machine cycle. Do not over wash your saree in washing machine as it may result in weakening of fabric.
  • Dry your new chiffon saree in shade for 2-3 hours only. Do not keep them in exposure to sunlight for too long.
  • Do not wring or twist your printed georgette sarees.

Silk sarees

  • Get your silk sarees dry cleaned instead of home washing.
  • Wash your silk saree in cold water, always, in shampoo or detergents specifically for silk sarees.
  • Do not iron your silk sarees directly. Steam ironing is highly recommended in case of silk sarees.
  • Store your silk sarees in a cool, dark place.
  • Do not overfold your silk sarees. Instead, hang them in a saree cover inside your wardrobe.
  • For heavy silk sarees, use neem leaves to prevent moth growth on silk. 

Tips to maintain Embroidered sarees

  • This is highly recommended to dry clean your embroidered saree, especially the ones with heavy embroidery.
  • Avoid washing your embroidered sarees at home.
  • Keep the heavy embroidered sarees away from the sunlight as too much exposure can cause fadening of threads or weakening of zari threads.
  • Always hang your embroidered sarees instead of folding them.
